Otis Levanway was born June 20, 1925 in Castleton, Vermont and raised in Troy, NY. Otis attended Troy High School.
Otis served in the Tenth Mountain Division. The Tenth consisted of expert woodsmen, skiers and mountaineers. During WWII, the Tenth first went in action in January 1945 in Italy where there was plenty of opposition. Otis Levanway was wounded in action in Italy and received a Purple Heart. Otis’ two brothers, Russell and Kenneth, also served in the war.
Upon returning to his hometown, he married the former Rosemary Flanigan and together they raised seven children.
