Everett G. King was born in Troy March 4th, 1918. He attended Troy public schools while growing up in the town of Brunswick.
He began his World War II military service in Harlingen, Texas at Harlingen Army Air Field. He was deployed overseas and assigned to the India, Burma, China Theater. He served as a tail gunner in his beloved B 17. He often reminisced about landing on several missions with little or no landing gear available. He achieved the rank of Corporal.
Upon returning from WWII he co-founded King Fuels with his brothers. The business became one of the largest distributors of home heating fuel in the Northeast. He as a staunch advocate for the city of Troy, serving on numerous boards. Among his favorites was the Troy Boys Club and St. Mary’s Hospital. He also served on the Troy Chamber of Commerce. He loved his family, his many friends, golf and gardening.
